West Harris is arguably one of the most beautiful coastlines in the UK. White and golden sands, formed from the constant rush of Atlantic swells, sit beside coastal machair and heather hills. A hidden retreat valued and cared for by the local crofters and residents.

We want this area to be more than that. A place that retains the natural beauty but also allows families and businesses to grow, offering a sustainable future for the children who grow up here and a chance for new families wishing to embrace a life in the Hebrides.

The West Harris Trust was formed to facilitate and enable change in the area. Created out of the wish to plan our own destiny and address local issues such as affordable housing, employment and diminishing school rolls. After two years of research, negotiation and planning, The Trust has purchased the land and is developing exciting plans and initiatives which will help regenerate the area.
