There are currently six Trust camping spots in West Harris, located in Losgaintir (Luskentyre) , Seilebost (Shelibost) & Niseaboist.  We have identified these sites in order to protect the roadsides from erosion. These spots offer fantastic views and are marked with a small sign.

Caravans and Campervans are welcome.

These sites are not suitable for tents.

There are no facilities at this site.

Public chemical waste disposal units are available at Huisinish, Horgabost and Urgha.

Please do not park outwith the boundaries of the designated space.  DO NOT drive vehicles off the Parking Area.  Anyone seeing to be doing so may be asked to move on.

As you are coming south from Tarbert down the A859, the first spot will be on your left, in a large gravel parking area just past the ‘Welcome to West Harris’ sign. The area’s perimeter is marked by boulders and there is a small imitation standing stone. The spot, as with all other camping spots is clearly marked with a sign and leaflet holder. From here there is a view south over Luskentyre.

The second, third and fourth sites are in Luskentyre township. As you drive south on the A859, there will be a turning on your right for ‘Losgaintir’. A single track road leads through the township and dead-ends at a stunning beach. The camping spots are all in the initial half of the road, on the left hand side. All three have views over Luskentyre and easy access to the sand at low tide.

The fifth spot is back on the main road (A859) if you continue south. It is on the right hand side, in a small gravel parking area just before Seilebost causeway begins. This spot looks out over Luskentyre and Seilebost sands.

Our sixth spot is on the main road (A859) continuing south in the village of Niseaboist , just south of Talla Na Mara on the seaward side.
