Talla na Mara Gift Shop

Talla na Mara Gift Shop was opened in July 2023 having had its beginnings in the West Harris Trust office!  

Initially, the staff in the office sold a variety of products from a hatch in the office wall. They started with a very small selection of items including the exclusive ‘Niseabost’ scent from Essence of Harris.  They then began selling WHT cards, calendars, and a tea towel with a map of the Estate on it. All of these proved to be very popular items, and little by little the staff in the office were spending so much time serving people at the hatch that they didn’t have time for their usual duties!

It was concluded that a dedicated shop was needed, not only to save the office staff some time, but also to allow for a greater variety of stock. It took our skilled Facilities Manager a couple of weeks to convert half of the office into the Gift Shop you see today. The Niseabost scent is no longer available, but we do stock a large range of Essence of Harris products and along with WHT merchandise, our stock has been evolving and growing ever since. With a good selection of toys, books, souvenirs and gifts to suit every pocket, visitors and locals alike come in to have a browse, with many commenting on what a great selection we have.
